On Sunday January 20, in the early hours of the morning, Comox Valley Transition Society’s social enterprise, Too Good To Be Threw thrift store suffered extensive damage due to fire. This is a devastating loss to our organization and to the community as funds received through donations and items sold at the store go directly to support our services. The store was an important resource for women who are trying to rebuild their lives after violence, after recovering from addiction, when they are homeless and are able to get in to a home. Women and kids who are in need shopped for free in the store all the time.
We are extremely thankful that no-one was injured during the fire, and that other businesses in the block had little damage. Thanks to the Courtenay Volunteer Fire Department and the Comox Valley RCMP for your quick response, and for the incredible outpouring of support we have received from everyone in the community.
PLEASE NOTE: At this time, we are unable to accept donations of clothing and household items until further notice. If you wish to support the transition society, please consider making a cash donation either on our website, over the phone with a credit card, or in person at our office at 625 England Avenue.
