Job Description
Under the general supervision of the VAW Program Manager, the PEACE (Prevention, Education, Advocacy, Counselling, Empowerment) Counsellor provides counselling to children who have witnessed or been exposed to violence or abuse . This will be done in an individual or group context. Appropriate support to parents/caregivers will also be given. Functions as a member of both the agency team and the interdisciplinary community team.

- HOURS: 75 hours bi-weekly, 1.0 (FTE)
- WORKING: Monday to Friday; 9am to 5pm
- DAYS OFF: Saturday & Sunday
- SALARY: Grid 14P, Range $40.03 – $50.59 Hourly
Education, Training and Experience
- Relevant Master’s degree preferred, Undergraduate degree combined with relevant experience will be considered. Training in advanced counselling.
- In-depth knowledge of the following: assessment and counselling practices; child protection laws and regulations; dynamics of abuse in families and effects on children; art and play therapy for children; stages of child development; substance abuse and its effects on children and families.
- Minimum two years counselling experience (individual and group) working in a related field with children.
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
